Merritt Research focuses on the municipal market. Our coverage is sector specific, focusing on revenue driven borrowers with at least $10 million in tax-exempt debt. We currently maintain seven municipal sectors with long term plans to offer a complete universe of tax-exempt obligors.

Acute Health Care: This universe consists of approximately 1600 entities classified across a broad spectrum of non-profit healthcare providers, including single-site hospitals, multi-hospital systems and university/teaching hospitals.

Colleges and Universities: This sector consists of approximately 400 colleges or universities that use the FASB method of accounting. This group consists primarily of private colleges; however the growing number of FASB reporting public colleges and universities are also included.

Airports: Our database of 100 airports and airport authorities is comprehensive within the U.S. and its territories.

Tollroads: One of Merritt’s newest sectors, this universe currently consists of approximately 40 toll authorities within the U.S.

Public Electric Utilities: Approximately 400 municipal utilities are represented including both electric and combined utilities.

Joint Action Agencies: More than 60 JAA’s and their individual projects are represented in our database.

State General Obligation: Each of the 50 borrowing states and territories are represented in our universe.
